You can't buy car in Singapore! | Updated

You can't buy car in Singapore now. Let's rephrase, you cannot afford to buy one from Feb 2018.

The growth cap of all passenger cars and motorcycles will be cut from 0.25% to 0% which means no new vehicle can be added in registration and ply on road.

Singapore is already in the list of one of the most expensive places in the world to buy a vehicle. 
You must first apply and get a certificate to own a vehicle which costs around 50,000 Singapore dollars. In Indian currency, that goes beyond 24 lakh Rupees.

Road taxes are also very high. Road taxes are renewable on a six-monthly or yearly basis. You may only renew your road tax if your vehicle has a valid inspection certificate. Cars between 3 to 10 years old must be inspected once in 2 years; cars older than 10 years must be inspected every year. Motorcycles and scooters must be inspected once a year only if they are older than 3 years. Inspection notices are sent to vehicle owners three months before the road tax expires.

There also exists a quota on the number on car registrations.

it is already very expensive to own and drive a car in Singapore.The government has implemented a range of measures to manage car ownership and usage. These include the Certificate of Entitlement (COE), Vehicle Quota System (VQS), road taxes and Electronic Road Pricing (ERP)



Almost 12-13% of total land area is already occupied by Roads. There is limited area for expansion.

But, here's a twist. The government has plans to tackle this and will spends billions over the next 5 years to expand and upgrade the existing public transport system.

We should appreciate this and welcome the same in every country.

Infosys CEO resigns

Vishal Sikka has resigned as managing director and CEO of Infosys and the company's board has accepted his resignation with immediate effect.

A succession process has been initiated, with Pravin Rao serving as interim MD & CEO.

In contrast to this, Infosys shares plunged over 7 per cent today after the announcement.

In his last note to employees, he stated: "I now need to move forward, and return to an environment of respect, trust and empowerment, where I can take on new lofty challenges, as can each of you."
This is the second time Infosys has plunged into a leadership crisis ever since the founder members retired from the top management. 

He also confirmed in his tweet :
